Syllabus Context
Functions makes up Strand 5 of a 5 strand syllabus as part of the Junior Certificate Project Maths course. The below learning outcomes are topics and examples which pupils should be able to 'traffic light' (Green - I know, Amber - I understand parts, Red - I don't know any of it) as they work through the topic:

Exam Context
Functions is asked as part of question one, as it makes up an entire strand of the curriculum it is obvious why in recent years it has made up approx 20% of Paper 1. This is an important topic in terms of examination and should be treated as such.
